Glossary
Key Terms & Definitions
Plain-language definitions for the evidence, dosing-language, regulatory, and community terms used across MitoCore Biosciences.
Evidence Grade (A–E)
Every peptide profile carries a letter grade summarizing how much human clinical support currently exists. See Safety & Quality for the full explanation.
Strong human clinical evidence, often within an approved indication.
Meaningful human clinical trial evidence; approval or long-term data may still be pending.
Mixed or limited human evidence; largely clinic or early-stage context.
Mostly preclinical or anecdotal; human outcome data is limited.
Minimal controlled evidence of any kind; primarily community/anecdotal interest.
Evidence Categories
Every source cited on this site is sorted into one of five categories, shown separately on each peptide profile and in the Study Database.
- Human Studies & Clinical Data
- Data from human clinical trials or human observational studies. The strongest evidence category, but still limited by the trial's size, population, dose, and duration.
- Animal / Cell / Preclinical Data
- Findings from animal models or laboratory/cell studies. Useful for understanding mechanisms, but animal and cell results do not reliably predict human safety or effectiveness.
- Regulatory Documents & Official Trial Registries
- Official documents such as FDA labels, trial registries, or regulatory safety notices. These describe approved indications, warnings, or investigational status.
- Review Articles / Secondary Sources
- Secondary sources that summarize or analyze other studies. Useful for context, but not a substitute for reading primary research.
- Anecdotal Reports
- Self-reported experiences shared informally or, in a future phase, through moderated community submissions. Anecdotal reports are not scientific proof and cannot establish safety or effectiveness.
- MitoCore Editorial Search Audits
- Reproducible literature/registry searches MitoCore performed itself (PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, openFDA, etc.) to support an absence or approval-status statement. These are MitoCore-authored editorial records, not official registries or regulatory documents, and are not primary scientific evidence.
Dosing Language
MitoCore uses exactly two labels for any dosing-related information. No other dosing language is used anywhere on this site.
- Study / Trial Dosing
- Dosing or exposure information sourced directly from a human study, clinical trial, or official regulatory label. Shown only when a primary source documents it — never a recommendation for how to use a compound.
- Anecdotal Reported Patterns — Not Medical Advice
- Self-reported usage patterns shared informally by individuals. Self-reported, unverified, not scientific proof, and not instructions for anyone else.
Regulatory & Quality Terms
- Investigational
- A compound still under active clinical study that has not received full regulatory approval for the use being discussed.
- FDA-Approved (Specific Indication)
- A compound may be FDA-approved for one specific, narrow medical use while remaining unapproved for other uses sometimes discussed in research or community contexts. Approval for one indication is not approval for all uses.
- Certificate of Analysis (COA)
- A lab document describing identity and purity testing results for a specific manufacturing batch. See Safety & Quality for more on COA limitations in unregulated markets.
- Sterility / Endotoxin
- Basic safety properties required for anything intended for injection. See Safety & Quality for details on why this matters.
- Gray-Market
- Products distributed outside regulated pharmaceutical supply chains, with no independently verified identity, purity, or sterility testing.
Site & Community Terms
- Peptide Profile
- An individual research page on MitoCore summarizing public studies, mechanism context, and safety considerations for one compound.
- Stack
- A combination of two or more compounds commonly discussed together in research, clinical, wellness, or community contexts. Combination safety and efficacy are usually not established unless specifically studied.
- Aggregated Community Summary
- A moderated, anonymized summary combining many individual anecdotal reports. Aggregated summaries are still anecdotal, self-reported, unverified, and not clinical evidence.
